KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, H.E. Mohammad Aamir Khan, presented his Letter of Credence to Rt. Hon. President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel at a ceremony held at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas, in Kathmandu.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Khan conveyed warm greetings from the leadership and people of Pakistan to President Paudel and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and Nepal.
The presentation of credentials marks the formal beginning of Ambassador Khan’s tenure in Nepal and represents an important milestone in the continued development of bilateral relations between the two South Asian countries.
Nepal and Pakistan have maintained diplomatic relations since 1960, with cooperation extending across various fields, including trade, education, tourism, culture, agriculture and people-to-people contacts. The two countries have also maintained close engagement through regional and international forums.

Kathmandu—The issue of Indian personnel conducting additional security checks on passengers of Indian airlines—even after they have already cleared Nepali security screening at Tribhuvan International Airport (Nepal’s sole major international airport)—has resurfaced after 26 years. A long-standing arrangement requires passengers bound for India on Indian carriers to undergo a secondary check of their persons and hand luggage by Indian staff on the airport apron after clearing Nepali security.
However, a critical question remains: where is the original decision or agreement authorizing foreign security personnel to conduct additional security checks on passengers at a Nepali airport? No clear documentation regarding the original approval for this arrangement has been found with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal; or the Ministry of Home Affairs.
