Minister Kulman Ghising Resigns

Kathmandu. Minister Kulman Ghising, who had been in charge of three ministries—including Energy and Physical Infrastructure—in the citizen-level government formed after the Gen Z uprising, has resigned from his post. A short while ago, he submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

While still serving as a minister in the citizen government, he registered the Ujyalo Party in order to participate in the election process scheduled for Falgun 21. Within a few days of that, he became vice-chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, after which voices of opposition against him began to rise.

Amid strong criticism and growing public outcry that individuals affiliated with political parties should not serve as ministers in a citizens’ government, Minister Ghising tendered his resignation.
