Flag-hoisting ceremony held at Pakistani Embassy

Kathmandu: A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu to mark the 86th National Day of Pakistan. The national flag was hoisted by Ambassador Abrar H. Hashmi at the chancery building, followed by the reading of messages from Pakistan’s leadership.

In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in transforming national aspirations into reality. He stressed the need to uphold the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions, reduce inequality, empower women, and eliminate terrorism and extremism. He also highlighted Pakistan’s resilience in the face of challenges.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described March 23 as a historic milestone in South Asia’s history. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to global peace, noting that lasting stability in the region depends on the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and concern over the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar paid tribute to the founding leaders and acknowledged the economic and political challenges arising from regional tensions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi congratulated the Pakistani community in Nepal and appreciated their contributions. He paid tribute to Muhammad Ali Jinnah and highlighted the historic significance of March 23, 1940. The embassy also announced that the National Day reception will not be held this year.
