Kathmandu. Discussions have been held between Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, who are on a visit to Nepal with the aim of assisting in the ongoing search, rescue and relief operations following the recent devastating Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that during the bilateral meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, discussions were held on the search and rescue operations of the citizens of the Republic of Korea who went missing after the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River on Bhadra 20.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Khanal expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea for sending an inter-agency rapid response team and Korea’s ‘Disaster Relief Team’ to assist in the search and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas and thanked the Government of the Republic of Korea for the humanitarian assistance and relief materials provided by the Government of the Republic of Korea for the flood-affected citizens.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Hyun of the Republic of Korea expressed his willingness to provide necessary assistance from his government in the post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Nepal. Stating that the international community has a historical responsibility towards the loss of life, property and infrastructure that countries like Nepal have suffered due to climate change, he stressed the need for Nepal and the Republic of Korea to collaborate to make the global community more sensitive to the impacts of climate change and the disasters created by it.
