Kathmandu: President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday declared that there is no threat or military attack capable of frightening or surprising the Venezuelan people. He highlighted what he called a “great consensus” that has emerged in the face of imperialist aggression and intimidation.
Maduro commented on reports of a 17‑week deployment of imperialist forces in the Caribbean Sea, South America, and near Venezuela, saying such claims are “false and extraordinary arguments” that nobody believes—not the American public, not the world, and least of all Venezuelans.
He argued that this period of psychological warfare and immoral pressure has not instilled fear, but instead awakened “a magnificent force of resistance and national consciousness,” which he described as the patriotic conscience of Venezuela.
The Commander‑in‑Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces noted that the situation has provided valuable lessons and reflections, lessons that were not fully understood in past years of relative calm. He pointed to recent joint civilian, military, and police exercises, including the successful “Independence 200” drills, which mobilized all integrated defense regions and demonstrated Venezuela’s capacity for coordination, command, control, and communication.
Maduro praised the popular military‑police union, saying it expresses the collective will of Venezuelans to defend peace and stability—rights guaranteed under international law, the United Nations Charter, and the national constitution.
“Today in Venezuela we declare that there is no threat or attack capable of frightening or surprising our people,” Maduro said, stressing that citizens are prepared to defend their homeland, territory, seas, skies, spirit, and history under the leadership of Simón Bolívar. He added that this principle was a “magnificent creation” of the late Hugo Chávez, which has since evolved into a strategic concept for Venezuela’s military doctrine and national defense.
