Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day Celebrated in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu organized a flag-hoisting ceremony on the auspicious occasion of Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day. Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Aamir Khan, unfurled the national flag at the Chancery in the presence of members of the Pakistani community, Nepali friends, Embassy officials and their families.

Messages from President of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out during the ceremony.

In his message, President Zardari paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the leaders and workers of the Pakistan Movement, and all those who made sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. He said independence was not only a historic achievement but also a responsibility, highlighting Pakistan’s efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was moving forward on its journey toward national development and prosperity despite challenges. He praised the country’s armed forces for their role in defending the nation and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and the diplomatic resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s progress since independence under the principles of unity, faith and discipline. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, international law and regional peace.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Mohammad Aamir Khan paid tribute to the historic struggle of 1947 and the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding generation. He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace and progress.

The Ambassador also expressed Pakistan’s readiness to further strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Nepal, based on their longstanding civilizational links, historic ties and shared values.
