Kathmandu. Balen, who is visiting the United States to participate in a United Nations program, has finally arrived there. His photojournalist, Binay Shakya, released a video confirming his arrival. However, throughout the day, social media was rife with old videos and AI-generated images falsely claiming that Donald Trump had welcomed Balen to the US.
The information shared on Balen’s own social media accounts throughout the day clearly illustrates the spread of misinformation, as these social media posts were being treated as news. This is despite the fact that official sources confirmed he had only just arrived in the US.
It is essential for the Press Council to monitor those who disseminate news using false information and AI-generated images or videos.
