Kathmandu . The press secretary of the Russian government, Dmitry Peskov, has said that it is still too early to speak about effective economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, although internal discussions on the matter are currently taking place. According to Peskov, dialogue between the two countries is important, particularly in helping stabilize global energy markets.
Recently, questions have been raised about the deployment of counter-drone specialists from Ukraine to the Middle East. Peskov stated that this matter is an issue between Kyiv and the countries that have requested such assistance. At the same time, he emphasized that Russia has consistently maintained its position that the situation surrounding Iran should be resolved through political and diplomatic methods rather than through military escalation.
Peskov also criticized the idea of putting pressure on Russia, calling it fundamentally absurd. According to him, Kyiv continues to pursue a policy that obstructs the peace process. He further claimed that several European capitals are not genuinely committed to seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
Despite the ongoing conflict, Peskov stressed that Russia remains open to a peaceful settlement and continues to support dialogue as a means of resolving tensions. He suggested that lasting stability can only be achieved through negotiation and mutual understanding rather than confrontation.
In addition, Peskov highlighted the importance of the International North–South Transport Corridor project. He said that Russia is counting on the implementation of this major infrastructure initiative, noting that significant progress has already been made and several positive developments have taken place.
However, he acknowledged that at present the project cannot be implemented in the Iranian segment of the corridor due to current circumstances. Even so, interest in completing the corridor remains strong, as it is considered an important route for expanding regional trade and economic cooperation across Eurasia.
Overall, Peskov reiterated that Russia continues to advocate for peace while pursuing diplomatic dialogue and economic cooperation as key elements of its international strategy.
